Opéra Garnier
Palais Garnier, the temple of music and choreography, will surprise you with its rich architecture and profuse interior decoration. Palais Garnier, built by Charles Garnier at the end of the 19th century, is a world-renowned architectural masterpiece.
This Palace of marble and gold displays the splendours of its majestic staircase and its various foyers, opulently decorated with paintings and sculptures, making it both a theatre and a museum. Its magnificent red and gold theatre, with its ceiling painted by Marc Chagall in 1964, evokes the major works of the opera and choreography repertoire. In the Pavillon de l'Empereur, the rich collections of the Museum Library (French National Library) preserves historic testimony going back to the founding of the Royal Music Academy by Louis XIV in 1669.

The Theatre
The red and gold horseshoe-shaped theatre à l'italienne is lit by an immense crystal chandelier. Its 1,900 red velvet seats bathe in the warm colours of Marc Chagall’s ceiling. The magnificently painted canvas stage curtain imitates trimmed drapery with gold pompons.
Opéra Garnier is just 15 minutes from the Terrass Hotel, itself located at the foot of Montmartre, easily accessible by Métro, car or even Vélib’ rental bike!

Opéra Bastille
Opéra Bastille is the work of Carlos Ott, a Canadian-Uruguayan architect, who was designated in November 1983 after an international competition that attracted the participation of nearly 1,700 architects. It was inaugurated on 13 July 1989. Its architecture is marked by the transparency of its façades and the use of the same materials inside and out. It has 2,700 seats with homogenous acoustics, unique stage equipment, integrated set, costume and accessory workshops and work and rehearsal rooms. Opéra Bastille is a truly great modern theatre.
